Improving Deployment Stability: A New Standard Addition to HYD Packages
We've recently added a cage weight as a standard accessory to select HYD packages, based on customer feedback.
In certain deployment conditions, additional weight can dramatically improve how the instrument behaves in the water. This helps provide more stable, consistent deployments without requiring users to source external weights.
What's changed?
- System weight increases by approximately 3 lbs (1.36 kg)
- Overall length increased by about 7 cm
- Weight is fully removable, allowing the system to be configured depending on the application.
- No impact to logistical costs, as dimensional weight remains unchanged.
In practice, this improves vertical stability, control during descent, and consistency across casts - while eliminating the need to source or add external weights in the field.
The cage is designed specifically for the AML-3, improving durability while reducing the risk of weight loss during deployment, a common issue with externally added weights.
Alongside this update, we've also transitioned to a new shipping case with improved durability and handling, designed to better support your system during transport.
Two small tweaks aimed at improving real-world performance without adding complexity.
