Diagnostics & Repair

Oceanographic instruments operate in unusually harsh environments, where corrosion and pressure can have devastating effects on instruments that are either poorly designed or infrequently maintaineds.  Our instruments are designed for reliability and durability; even today we are servicing and supporting instruments delivered to our customers in the late1980s and early 1990s.

When instruments are returned to Applied Microsystems for repair or recalibration, they go through a standard diagnostics routine.  Our diagnostics procedures are comprehensive and include elements of:

  • visual inspection
  • operational tests
  • sensor test values

Customers are provided with a detailed report identifying findings and recommendations of the diagnostics.  Immediately thereafter, customers are provided with a service estimate.   Where possible, we endeavour to complete diagnostics within 3 days of the arrival of the instrument at our factory.

Customers are automatically notified of the arrival of their instrument at our factory AND of the completion of the diagnostics process.

Supported Products

Applied Microsystems currently supports our Micro, Smart, Plus, and Inspectr product lines.  We do not currently support, recalibrate, or repair SVP-16 or Spill Sentry product lines.

Asset Management

Field data is only as good as a sensor or instrument's calibration.  If the calibration is expired, data is suspect.  It is for this very reason that organization's such as NOAA and the Canadian Hydorgraphic Service demand to see valid calibration certificates for sound velocity instruments used on marine surveys.  What if an outdated calibration invalidated an entire multibeam survey?

Given the importance of calibration dates, it is critically important to manage instrument assets.  Last calibration dates are only one example of key instrument information.  What about copies of calibration certificates?  or validating the maximum deployment depth of an instrument?  Many customers are also keen to keep a service and diagnostics history  consolidated in one location.

Applied Microsystems Customer Portal allows customers to track critical instrument information in one location, available from anywhere in the world.
