The Smart SV&P is a real-time instrument ideal for shallow water vertical profiles in support of multi-beam systems. The instrument is also appropriate for integration into AUV or ROV systems. Like all AML sound velocimeters, the Smart SV&P directly measures the time-of-flight of an acoustic ping. Time-of-flight measurement technology is between 5 and 10x more accurate than traditional CTD based sound velocity equations such as Chen & Millero or Del Grosso.

The Smart as an X•Series Instrument The Smart is also available as an X•Series. X•Series instruments allow the user to change instrument sensor-load in the field and on demand. With the X•Series, your CTD can be an SVTP; shallow pressure sensors can be swapped for deep; temperature range can be adjusted as needed. All X•Series instruments allow the user to change instrument sensor-load in the field and on demand. The X•Series uses XchangeTM sensor-heads, which are field-swappable, interchangeable, and shareable with all other models of X•Series instruments.
